The one with Veterans Day 2012

If ever there was a year that really exemplified Veterans Day for our little family, it was this year. This year we have spent 11 months (so far) with half our hearts on the other side of the world. Jonathan, my husband was deployed there in January. I am so proud of him, and how he has handled this deployment, he always amazes me. I am also sitting back and watch as my children absorb all this means to them, they have been without their Daddy at a very important time in their lives. They have handled it with such grace, I am just in awe. I hope I have been able to keep myself together most of the time, while still showing them it's ok to be sad about Daddy, and this too will end soon. We will enter a new chapter, one that will also hold struggles as we all adjust to being together again. Jonathan will need to adjust to being a Father, and Husband again as we adjust to running this house with a BOY in it again! But all those adjustments are well worth it to have him home again! It just isn't the same without him! So thank you to ALL the Veterans out there, but I am sorry I am playing favorites this year! We can't wait to have you home Jonathan (aka,  hunny & Daddy) - xox

  1. Travis never went so far as the other side of the world, but we spent over a year living in separate states when he was enlisted... my heart is with you. I can only imagine how much harder it is to have a daddy so much farther away than ours was. We love you guys.

  2. My heart is with you as well, Shanna. Once upon a time I was a Navy wife and went over a year with my husband and father of my son in places I wasn't even "allowed" to know about. It was tough at times, easy at times, and then all those things all over again when he returned! I'm so happy that your hubby will be returning home very soon and my prayers are with you all! xo
