When I was at the Renegade Craft Fair a couple weeks ago with my husband, we both fell in love with this adorable booth. It was filled with re-claimed treasures, painted wood signs, metal marquee letters and arrows, REALLY I felt like the booth was MADE for me!!! On top of all the the owner - Chandra- was one of the sweetest people I have ever met! We walked through the rest of the fair with are ampersand tucked under our arm and nearly EVERY person who saw us asked where we got that, and how could they get one!!! I knew you all would love my find as well which is exactly why I asked Chandra to join us today! :)
These JunkArtGypsyz are just a couple of moms that have been friends since the old High School days that started junkn, then craftn, then design'n, and from there it snow balled in to these fun, funky lighted Marquee Signz In JUne 2012. I am doing things that I have never before done in my life (I sat behind a desk and ran a company for most of my 20's and part of my 30's), I would have NEVER in a million years thought that using drills, sanders,, cutting machines and being covered in dust and paint head to toe on a daily basis would be my DREAM career path. I truly count my blessings daily that we have been able to turn our creativity in to a career! Anjanette is an artist in the true sense of the word, she grew up using tools with her dad and doesn't get why just the mere sound of a power saw makes me jump (those things can take a hand off!) Anjanette truly is the most amazing artist (though she doesn't think so) she just blows me away on the custom logos and designz she comes up with and executes for our clients.
What is your most popular item? Our Most popular items are our letters, the metal ampersand just like yours and arrows! The marquees make such a fun statement from baby rooms to bathrooms!
What is your personal favorite pieces of all time?Hmmmm I would I have to say our lil Piggy & Cupcake, they have been with us since the beginning and I think they just have so much personality!
You have such an eye for color and design, can you tell us a bit about your creative process? What inspires you? How do you stay so on trend? We both have a different style that we bring to our JuNk; I am more inspired by old, vintage, industrial, shabby designs where Anjanette goes with the clean lines, bright art, bohemian flavor. We get most of our ideas from flea markets, garage sales, and magazines.
What trends do you see being popular as we head into fall and winter? Recycled and Up-cycled is really in for furniture and home furnishings. This autumn I see raw materials being used like sticks, branches, stumps, with rusty reds / oranges with a POP of gold finishes for a more elegant look.
