Creative Options | Homework Kit

As we head back to school we tend to gather up all the school supplies and send them off to school. Then they come home with a packet full of homework and you realize you sent all goods to the classroom! The past couple of years I have started putting together a little homework kit to keep at home. This way when they kids get home, they get an afternoon snack & plop down to the table with their kit and get to work.

I find that including the kids in this process is key. Ask them what they think they need in the kit and what they WANT in the kit! This will make them take ownership of it and therefore actually want to use it! Now don't get me wrong here, this isn't about going out and buying a whole new batch of supplies. This is about gathering the supplies you have all over your house, a little bit here and a little bit there but when you bring it all together it works! I love the little organizer case from Creative Options with it's customizable cubbies. This is perfect for the items like will be pulling out every time like pencils, highlighters and paperclips.

Once you have gathered and organized the supplies the toolbox has two layers. In the bottom layer I added little bags filled with things like colored pencils, crayons, scissors, notebooks and a pencil sharpener. What is nice about this being a clear container is that when you look inside you can clearly see anything you might need.

For the top tray of the toolbox I also added a couple of must use items. For my kids this includes a ruler, post-it notes, white out, washi tape (ok, this is more for fun, but homework should be fun... right!?) and sharpies. I don't know about your kids but there is something about sharpies that my kids just love, so to have a couple in their homework kit will make their day!!! I love that the top container just slips on the top for super easy access. The easier it is for my kids to keep this organized the better!

Once you have organized the top sit back and marvel at your super awesome back to school mom talents!! For a little added touch I put some Amy Tangerine alphabet stickers on the top that reads "homework kit". This whole kit can slip into their art drawer and when they get home from school and are ready to get to work they know exactly where everything is! The creative options containers helped me give my kids the tools they need in a way they can use them best.

How are you getting organized for another school year? Amy Tangerine had some fun ides on how to help her friends get all set.....

Exiciting news with Amy Tangerine

It's Tuesday and I have some exciting news I have been waiting to share for a bit now! Amy Tangerine has asked me to be a part of her design team, and to me... this is just a dream team! Her lines mix with my style, I couldn't imagine any one designer being a more perfect match!

I first met Amy at the 2013 winter CHA show, even though I was very new to the scrapbooking community at the time she pulled us right over and made us feel welcomed and at home. Throughout the show I watched as she interacted so easily with customers, scrapbookers, buyers and manufactuers. She would literally skip through the hall and bring a smile to anyone's face who's path she crossed. She is seriously one gifted lady and I am so lucky to be working with her.

During our trip to Camp Calico I got to know Amy even better as we shared a couple flights/and layovers together. It was during the time she was pregnant and we got to share stories about motherhood/worries/fears/excitments etc. I loved seeing her down to earth thoughts on motherhood and sharing (but hopefully not oversharing) some of my experiences with my girls as we had lunch together.

I went to Amy as a friend when I was working on Printshop for Studio Calico and she shared with me such valuable information as well as excitement that I really couldn't share with anyone else at the time. Amy has genuine happiness about her that is just infectious and I have to tell you I think that played a part in making it such a dream come true experience for me.

With all that said when I saw Amy was pulling together a design team I thought I would throw my name in the hat but never imagined that she would ask me (I mean hello, I can only imagine the volume of names that were in that hat!!) so when she did it just made my day! I look forward to working with Amy and her innovative designs!

I am not only excited to be joining Amy, but this amazing team she has put together!

Come check out their awesomeness!

The one with MY FIRST CLASS at STUDIO CALICO!!!!

Oh my goodness I feel like pinching myself. Not only am I teaching at Studio Calico but I am doing so along side some VERY seriously MEGA talented ladies including Amy, Celine and Gerlyn!  We are teaching a technique based class and we plan on filling your toolbox with some new tools for creating!!

I am teaching on digital design. Using photoshop to enchance your paper pages! This is all about loving the hybrid way of creating, using those digital brushes you bought but aren't sure what to do with!!!

I tell you what, I created some brushes just for this class! I had so much fun creating these. Since they aren't being used as physical stamps that gave me a little more freedome to play with transparency in the stamps that you won't see on other Studio Calico stamps. They look like WATERCOLORS! And they are so much fun, I hope you enjoy them as much as I have!!

**Please note note all the digital stamps are shown in the preview but it will give you a good idea! **

I had so much fun creating the stamps for the class I couldn't wait to put them to good use so I wanted to make sure to share a little peek at one of my projects!

Along with digital stamps I am going to show you some fun ways to incorporate digital paper into your projects! Studio Calico has brought some of your favorite paper patterns to us DIGITALLY for the class! We have unique things planned so I hope you will join us in the classroom.

I also have sneaks from my inspiring teammates!

I hope to see you in class, get more information and sign up ---->> HERE <<-----

See you soon!!!
